Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift and N-Line Revealed

Hyundai Ioniq 5 was first released in February 2021.

Exactly three years later, on February 29, 2024, the IONIQ 5 facelift model was launched in Korea.

The special feature of this IONIQ 5 model is that a new IONIQ 5 N Line package has been added and the 4th generation battery used in the IONIQ 5 N has been applied.
The capacity is larger and the driving distance is longer. In addition, the latest infotainment system, ccNC, has been applied and wireless software updates have been expanded.

The IONIQ 5 facelift model actually does not show significantly changed exterior and interior design.
The changes were so subtle that it was confusing where the changes were. Newly designed skid plates were applied to the front and rear bumpers to emphasize the wide feel.

One of the major features of this IONIQ 5 facelift is that Hyundai Motor Company's next-generation 4th generation battery was applied.
The 4th generation battery is a battery applied to the IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance electric vehicle model, and the capacity of the battery has increased from 77.5 kWh in the previous IONIQ 5 model to 84 kWh.
Exactly, it is not that more batteries were added, but the energy density has been improved by 8.4% compared to the 3rd generation battery cell, so the size is the same but the mileage has also increased.
It features an increase in driving range on a single charge from 458km to 485km.

In addition, the battery capacity has been increased by increasing the fast charging speed, but like the existing model, charging from 10% to 80% can be completed within 18 minutes at a 350kW ultra-fast charger.
The 4th generation battery cell is equipped with a BMS (Battery Management System) that enables high-performance specialized driving and charging control in the Ioniq 5 N, and is characterized by improved battery stability by applying a design to strengthen thermal runaway delay.

 

Additionally, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 facelift model is equipped with the next-generation infotainment system, ccNC (connected car navigation cockpit).
The over-the-air software update OTA system, previously only available for navigation, can now keep most of the functions associated with the main electronic control unit up to date.

Hyundai Motor Company has improved the sense of luxury in driving by applying a ‘frequency-sensitive shock absorber’ to the Ioniq 5 that uses frequencies transmitted differently to tires depending on vehicle speed and road surface conditions to relieve vibrations from the road surface.
In addition, the rigidity of key areas such as the lower body and rear wheel house was strengthened to achieve agile and stable behavior while reducing low-frequency booming noise. Motor noise control was optimized and quietness was strengthened by expanding the sound absorption and sound area of the rear motor. .
In addition, to enhance side collision safety performance, the rigidity of the B-pillar and front and rear doors was strengthened, and an 8-airbag system was applied with the addition of second-row side airbags to ensure excellent safety.

There was a high-performance IONIQ 5 N model, but there was no IONIQ 5 N Line model.
This facelift model has been newly revealed. This model embodies the design of the high-performance N model. It features front/rear bumper designs exclusive to the N line, and body-colored side garnish and cladding have been added.
Additionally, the N Line emblem is included on the front grill and fenders, but the trunk does not include the N Line emblem. In addition, 20-inch alloy wheels exclusive to the N Line are applied, and garnish and hidden lighting exclusive to the N Line are applied.

The interior includes an N Line-exclusive leather steering wheel, black interior materials and red stitching, and N Line-exclusive seats, metal pedals, and footrests to create a sportier feel.

It is currently on sale in North America for $41,800.
In the Korean market, it is sold for $39,296, and with this facelift, it is sold at the same price as the previous model rather than an increase in price, so it is expected to start at the same price in the North American market at $41,800.
